This one-day Symposium will further elevate local, regional, state and national awareness about the Monterey Bay region as a home for Drone, Automation & Robotics, Technology (DART) innovation. The Symposium will bring together industry, academic, and government thought and practice leaders to explore related topics. The outline for the day includes a series of keynote speakers bringing leading edge insight into industry, regulatory and education directions, and the potential for them to thrive in our region. Following lunch, a series of panel discussion will explore topics in more detail including: Education, Airspace & Facilities, Investing, Regulatory & Management, and Application areas in Agriculture, Marine Science, Homeland Security, and more. This content and speakers will be updated as planning for the Symposium progresses.

Monterey Bay DART – June 2019 Meetup

The June Meetup will be a special evening set in the middle of the 2019 UCANR Drone Camp. As such it will feature speakers from UCANR & partner agencies participating in the Drone Camp training, as well as special guests from Island Conservation and sensor manufacturer MicaSense. Plan for a full evening of relevant conversation and discussion focused on the agriculture and natural resource management space.

UCANR 2019 Drone Camp

The UCANR IGIS team will hold its next DroneCamp training June 17-20, 2019, at UC Monterey Bay Education Science & Technology (UCMBEST) Center.

This intensive short course covers the full suite of steps and skills for using drones for mapping and data collection, including:

  • UAV and sensor technology
  • Safety and regulations
  • Mission planning
  • A full day of flight operations and hands-on practice
  • Principles of photogrammetry and remote sensing
  • Data management, processing, and analysis
  • Sharing and visualizing outputs
